Second project, Untitled

There’s a lot I should have gone in to, regarding the current project, in the past few weeks except I’ve just got a terrible habit of straying away from tumblr. Well I’m here now and so very excited on getting started with this. Things started off great, to horrible, then worse to now excellent! Only three weeks until we start filming. I suppose anything can happen i.e. actors dropping out. I would dive out a window if that was the case.

So we went from wanting to design four sets (an overwhelming piece of work) to three and now one. However, now we’re not designing a set altogether. Which is sad really, because I for one was looking forward to it, amongst several others. But it matters not, as our producer has found an ideal location! I would love to show you the pictures, but I want to keep what I can a secret! So upon finishing the film, it may be more of a surprise! I hope, ha!

Oh bloody hell Tim Burton

The latest Empire Magazine slips through my letter box this morning. So as per usual, I flick through without really spending too much time on articles which is a shame because there are some really interesting things in there. What catches my attention, above all, is a small little yellow box with the title ‘PINOCCHIO’. The inside of my head erupts and my imagination takes a leap in front to prepare me for the worst.

Tim Burton is making an adaption to the classical fairy tale as a live action film. This frustrates me to a ridiculous degree for I’ve been thinking of a puppet related film for over a year, and only just have come to it’s completion (or a part of it). I had two ideas I felt so very passionate about, one being somewhat very dark (which Tim Burton will depict) and another a very nice pleasant feel to it. At the same time, but considerably a lot lower in terms of pleasantry, I feel awkwardly fine knowing that the choice of cast Tim Burton has in mind shares the same as my own. Of course my story isn’t about a puppet coming to life, but it is considerably about puppets. Sigh.

Birdboy has been nominated for the Goya Awards 2012. (SPAIN) Preselected for the 84th ACADEMY AWARDS Selected for ANNECY 2011 in competition.

Taking a step through genres

My next film project, under particular objectives to note and follow, consists of an individual who finds himself conscious in a world unlike his own. He travels through a series of genres. While feeling overwhelmed with confusion he has no choice but to venture through these areas. Areas which will be designed by me and my team. Our choice of genres which we will design are: Horror, Film Noir and Western. He will find himself in different stages only when he himself falls unconscious, and for the sake of story progression he will certainly do so. I won’t go in to much detail than that, but we’re all looking forward to designing the sets.

The sad part is I feel like I have lost the respect of certain individuals from the past film project over a silly ‘misunderstanding’ which never took place, and even so I apologized. And I wonder if it was that very cause that lost my place in working with them. This becomes more apparent as the week goes by. I suppose I shouldn’t dwell on the subject any longer, as they seem pleasantly fine with the way things are. I just wish I wasn’t made aware of significant changes in situations which were once a considerably positive atmosphere. I’ve done my share of bringing people together, I just can’t be arsed anymore. Putting death aside, I’m working with entirely new people. We’ve all shared an exciting approach to the project and have quickly come together as a firm circle of friendly teammates! What I like most about this group is everyone agrees to make the impossible possible. A bunch of nutters. I love it.
